Dear Bert Long,
Greetings long ago friend! I am glad to see you are well and as productively creative genius as ever! You and I went flying around east TX with your son and I often visited you and the Mrs. with one or two of my babies (now full grown artists themselves). ..we lived in Lufkin for about 3 years in the mid 80s. I have periodically checked in with you as you were a big impetus and inspiration to my early art making career, Bert! Thanks!
It's alright if your don't remember me I still wanted to give you a shout out fro way over here! I am exhibiting and teaching art full time in Saigon for a couple of break away years... breaking away from Virginia. It's pretty gnarly here! Hope you are great! love, Suzyn (Greg Kelley's former spoucette)

I like the ice sculptures. And I enjoyed meeting you last week. Hopefully, it won't be the last time.

Bert, I have been around you at PRH a number of times and we have never spoken. You have a wealth of expression that I appreciate especially the ice sculptures, your trip to Rome and your facination with the eye ball. I hope when I see you again at PRH.

Dear Bert,
Thankyou very much for sharing your time with me today in the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art.

You really made my day actually, your warm and open conversation put a smile on my face (and your comments on art were spot on )

I hope things go well for you while you are here in 'Bonny Scotland' and that you take a little piece of it back home with you to Chicago

I have to say, you really are a larger than life character (if you don't mind me saying so), you come across as a very wise and good person (hope that isn't too much saying that either), and I think your work is excellent.

I especially liked your ice sculptures and "Dance of the Drought in Spain"

your colours are really great, I have to admit thats what I like in art COLOUR! and you use it to great effect.

Anyhow, I am waffling, thank you once again for taking the time to talk to me
it really did make my day.

Best wishes

Alan Hume (Warder at the Gallery of Modern Art)
